Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!
Another week, another manicure.
For me, the past couple weeks have been all about slowly stepping outside my comfort zone, and so far I'm not hating the results.
I ordered a club sandwich from a semi-bougie local pub featured on the Food Network and instead of picking out the tomatoes I just ate the whole sandwich as is. It was really good.
I don't like beer (I'm more of a whisky kinda girl) but I'm trying to keep an open mind, and I tried a different variety. It was really disgusting; but I suppose that comes with the territory. That might not seem like very much effort but baby steps are important.
Sticking with the theme of stepping out of the box I picked up a nail color I usually don't gravitate towards. It's not a nude, or a berry or a pink. It's the most satisfying shade of periwinkle by the name of "Pret-a-Surfer by Essie.
This shade is part of the brand's summer collection along with five other shades. This polish retails for $8.50 and is described by Essie as an "Immersive Marine Blue."
Essie as a brand is notorious for inconsistant product quality. There are some shades that are wonderfully opaque, even out nicely and make for a beautiful manicure. And there are other shades that leave much to be desired. Because of the inconsistencies between shades I'm usually not inclined to pick up a particular color without a recommendation. However, since I'm all about trying new things ATM I just tossed this polish into my basket and hoped for the best, and it actually worked out really well.
If you're all about this kind of color I definitely recommend picking it up or at least swatching it if you can find it in person.
I'm excited about trying more shades from this collection, specifically Chillato (Frozen Cream Pistachio), Peach Side Babe (sun-ripe peach) and Sunset Sneaks (bright cushy crimson).
