Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!

Ever since emilynoel83 of Beauty Broadcast first mentioned Laura Geller's French Vanilla Highlight I was lusting after it. She described it as a pigmented satin-matte highlighting shade that could be used under the eyes as well as to create a subtle glow to the face.

The problem is the French Vanilla highlighter does not compliment my complexion and it doesn't come in any other shades that do. It's a little on the light side and I was afraid of it looking too ashy against my skin.  Ever since I've been looking for something along the same lines that would suit someone with a warmer and deeper skin tone and I've found all of those qualities in the Vivid Baked Bronzers from Makeup Revolution.

These Vivid Baked Bronzers are obviously not marketed as a highlighting product, but for women of color who have a medium to deep complexion it can be used as such. For those with lighter coloring it's not too shimmery and would look beautiful as a luminous bronzer on the face and body. They come in three shades (so there's a little wiggle room there) but I only have the middle shade in 'Golden Days.'

The Vivid Bronzers are truly versatile. They have the potential to be very pigmented but if you blend them out well they'll give you a beautiful, undetectable glow. In my experience there's no distinguishable 'highlight line,' meaning it doesn't just look like a bold streak across the face and, depending on your coloring, it subtle enough to be used all over the face. Did I mention that it doesn't emphasize your pores?

I like to use this product in several different ways:

  • I use it all over the face for a natural glowy look
  • I use it as a traditional highlight on the cheekbones, forehead, down the bridge of the nose, on the cupid's bow and chin when I want more of a 'No Makeup, Makeup' look
  • I use it as an all over base and layer another highlighter over top
  • And I use it to blend out other highlighters so that 'streak' on the cheekbones will look less noticeable

If you're looking for a subtle, luminous glow and this products intrigues you, I encourage you to go to Ulta and check them out for yourself!
