Brush Drying Hack!

Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!

I would equate washing brushes to a man washing his underwear: It's no something I'm prepared to do until they're all soiled and I've reused the cleaner ones a couple more times. But the only thing I dislike more than washing my brushes is waiting for them to dry.

In nearly every brush washing video I've seen, the recommendation is always to let them dry over night. That works for my smaller brushes but my face brushes always takes at least 48hrs which I just don't have time for.

That's why I bring to you makeup hack that, for me at least, has been a complete game changer.

WARNING: This is not just a tip in drying your brushes in record time, but also a lesson in multi-tasking.

Step One: Wash a Batch of clothes.

Step Two: While your clothes are in the wash, clean your brushes.

Step Three: Transfer your clothes to the dryer.

Step Four: Place the clean damp brushes into a lingerie bag. If you use brush guards, now would be the time to put them on.

Step Five: Place the bag of brushes into the dryer. Try to put them under a bunch of clothes so they don't slam against the walls. That's not a good time for anyone.

And there you have it! Clean clothes and clean brushes!

Some Other Tips:

  • Try to wash a smaller load than you would normally.
  • Try to use a cooler dryer setting so your brushes glue doesn't melt.
  • If you want dry brushes in record time (and don't care about your electric bill), set up a rack in the middle of your dryer (if your dryer model comes with one), line your brushes up in a single layer and put it on the 'Freshen Up' setting if you have one, if not set a timer for 30-35 minutes and consider checking on them after 20 minutes.

This method works really well for me. I try to wash my brushes once a while I'm washing 2-3 loads of laundry. If I have a ridiculously large number of brushes, I'll split them up among the different loads to make sure that everything can dry thoroughly. Or I'll just let them dry by themselves on the rack which was the case today since I washed my clothes yesterday. No planning.

That concludes this brush drying hack! If you decide to try it out the next time you wash your brushes let me know how it goes by tagging me on instagram and twitter. If you have another preferred method for drying your brushes I'd love to read about it in the comments!
