March Favorites - 2016

Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!

This month actually did go by really fast for me. March is my birthday month, something I was simultaneously looking forward to and dreading. I obviously was not looking forward to getting any older (I'm officially in my mid twenties!) but I was looking forward to spoiling myself a little. That being said, I did splurge on a lot a products that I'm excited to feature in upcoming posts!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Normal to Dry Skin

This is my all time favorite foundation. It always has been, and Revlon has improved upon it even further by adding a pump!

This formula is extremely longwearing with medium to full coverage and a satin-matte finish. This is the perfect shade, full coverage whenI need it and wears all day (and then some) with or without a primer.

NYX Banana Powder

I know I'm incredibly late to the game on this. Even though the NYX Banana powder is not a new product It's something that's always intrigued me but I wanted to make sure I knew how I felt about the Ben Nye Banana Powder before I bought yet another banana. If you've read my post on Hyped Products that Youtube Made me Buy you might know that it didn't work out for me very well. It just wasn't bright enough for me. The Ben Nye powder is better for someone who has a deeper skin tone or wants a more subtle brightening effect. But the NYX powder still has the same smooth formula with twice the brightening effect.

NYX Gotcha Covered and L.A. Girl Pro Concealers

These are probably the best concealers I've ever tried! They're thick, they don't crease and for goodness sake they stay put! I have under eye wrinkles the size of the Marianas Trench and it never mattered what I used (MAC Prolongwear, It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye, Urban Decay Naked Skin) my under eye area would always crease. Always. I like to layer the Gotcha Covered concealer over the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Orange for a correction and coverage factor. I blend everything out with the good ol' middle finger and immediately set with the NYX Banana Setting Powder and voila! You look uncharacteristically awake! This trifecta is probably the best thing to ever happen to me.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

When it comes to mascaras, I definitely have my favorites for the top lashes (or the ones that are really important) but I haven't found anything suitable for the lower lashes. I'm coming to that point in my makeup journey when a well smoked out bottom lash line is becoming increasingly important to me. In order for one to draw proper attention to the bottom lash line, one has to add mascara an unfortunately none of my current favorites play well with the bottom lashes. The Rimmel Lash Accelerator has a brush that is more slender, a formula that is thinner in consistency and holds just enough product to for the bottom lashes to be visible without looking clumpy in an unattractive way.

Jamaican Castor Oil

I don't talk about hair products a lot on this blog because I'm one of those mixed chicks and the texture of my hair is non traditional. I've been wanting to try Jamaican Castor Oil for a minute because it's supposed to restore and moisturize hair to promote growth as well as "defending skin's youthful appearance."

TBH I don't know a whole lot anout the science behind how all that is supposed to work but it looked interesting, my friend said she's been using it for years so I snatched it up the next time I saw it.

I've been using it on my hair for about two weeks and it's been behaving much better than it usually does.

Beware: It smells like burning rubber!

Garnier Micellar Water in the Waterproof version

Among the m any other products that are trending at the moment I've finally jumped on the micellar water band wagon, if you will. I started using the Simple micellar water for some months and fell in love immediately! When I ran out, I purchased the Garnier waterproof version instead, just to see how they compare. Imust say, even though I liked Simple's Micellar water, I think I like Garnier's even better. I'll have to do a more extensive review in the future.

Essentially even though the Simple water removes most of my makeup feels much fresher on the skin, the Garnnier water actually takes EVERYTHING OFF! And it does so without leaving residue on the eyes or damaging my lashes.

That's it for this month's Favorites! As always I'd love to know which beauty products you've been loving this month.
