Skincare Sunday Round Two!

Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!

Even though Skincare Sundays started out as a way to salvage a weekend trapped indoors, I’ve decided to keep up with it.

This week I picked up a new foundation and concealer with those Sephora Gift Cards I mentioned earlier. Both the foundation and concealer are products I was really excited about but they applied horribly! The foundation went on patchy and the concealer accentuated the fine lines under my eyes and started creasing! Everyone raves about these products (which I will mention in a haul or review at some point in time) and I thought I needed to give them a second chance when my skin isn’t dry and flaky AF; because that’s only fair.

This Sunday I started with my Purity cleanser from Philosophy to gently, but effectively cleanse my skin without upsetting it any further.

Then I exfoliated with my Arcona Cranberry Gomage facial scrub. This is the best exfoliator I’ve ever used because the granules are the perfect size and texture to deliver maximum exfoliation.

After exfoliation I like to hydrate immediately. I use a sample size of the Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask from Laneige. Not only does this mask Smell Amazing but the lactic acid and alpha hydroxy acid in yogurt helps to create a natural glow to the skin through gentle exfoliation. And did I mention that it smells amazing?

After leaving the yogurt mask on for 5-10 minutes (let’s be real, I kept that b*tch on for 15 minutes). I went back in with Purity to wash it off and exfoliated (yet again) with my Queen Helene Oatmeal and Honey natural facial scrub. THis differs  from the Arcona exfoliator in that the granules are much smaller, providing a gentler exfoliation. This is the  kind of face srib I would use 2-3 times weekly, while I would use the Arcona scrub once weekly.

And, probably the most important step after all that exfoliation is hydration!

Here’s what I should have done:

  1. Applied eye serum

  2. Applied face serum

  3. Applied face moisturizer with SPF

I skipped steps 1 - 2 and just applied my tried and true Cetaphil moisturizing cream even though there’s no SPF in it. That’s okay though, because I didn’t go anywhere. Except to DQ for a chicken strip basket and a blizzard. Admittedly not the best decision ever.  C’est la vie.

That concludes this week’s Skincare Sunday!

As always, I’d love to know what your favorite skincare products are along with your skin type. I personally want to get into Keihl’s and Paula’s Choice so let me know what you think about that too.
