Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!
Fall is my favorite season of the year! I hate summer because I hate being hot. Winter is bittersweet because I like snuggling up by the fire with a steaming cup of hot coco, but I hate being so cold that I can't do anything besides focus on how i'm going to stay warm. Spring is okay, but Fall just brings out the best in everything. The best flavors, the best traditions, the best scenery. It's just gorgeous and it feels right in every way. I wish I could live in a place where it was Fall all year round. I was so excited for Fall this year that I started working on my responses for the I Heart Fall Tag around the end of July, and I was ready to post on the first official day of Fall. And then Jaclyn Hill, the queen of my soul, posted her own version which she calls the Fall Favorites Tag. To be all inclusive I've decided to rework my responses and incorporate Jaclyn's original questions in with the rest of the Tag. Enjoy!
Favorite Fall Lip Color?
Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream in Embrace.
Favorite Fall Nail Polish?
OPI's Malaga Wine.
Favorite Blush? - Jaclyn
NARS Sin is a favorite all year 'round, but I especially love it in the Fall. Ride or die.
Favorite Fall Starbucks Drink?
I feel like this question was crafted to elicit a specific response and that response is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I actually don't like Pumpkin Spice Lattes, or lattes in general. That's right, I'm basically a Nazi. In the Fall I feel compelled to try the seasonal specials but they always seem to disappoint. Not just the Pumpkin Spice, but the Salted Caramel Mochas, the Egg Nog Lattes, what have you. So I just order the usual because nothing says comfort like a Venti Soy White Mocha. Since I'm one of those lactose intolerants, the soy is a necessary evil so that my ass doesn't explode on the go. C'est la Vie. But sometimes I change things up and get a Chai! Yumm...
Favorite Fall Drink? - Jaclyn
As you can see, the original I Heart Fall Tag specifies that the drink must be from Starbucks. Jaclyn's version makes no such specification, so I'm taking this opportunity to get a lil boozy! When you're in the mood to make bad decisions, nothing says Fall like FireBall. I like Fireball in a double shot, #straightnochaser. I like Angry Balls (an Angry Orchard with a shot or two of Fireball). I also like, what I call, Super Hard Cider (apple juice, 2 generous shots of Fireball and Caramel Syrup). This drink is dangerous because it's so sweet that it doesn't taste like there's alcohol in it at all. In addition, I really appreciate Apple Pie Moonshine. Yumm... Drink responsibly.
Favorite Fall Candle?
Here's the thing, I'm too young/immature to place any significant emphasis on candles. However, there are general scents that I enjoy. This includes basically anything that smells like baked goods. I know there are candles that smell like baked goods, but I'm not gonna spend $25 on scented wax just to walk into a room that smells like apple pie, only to realize there's NO Apple Pie! I refuse to be suckered into buying candles that repeatedly kill my dreams of apple pie! Life lesson: Candles = cocktease. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate people who appreciate candles. I'm just not there yet. Check back in like, ten years.
Favorite Fall accessory?
My leopard print Calvin Klein Infinity scarf. I love wearing it with a black ensemble and a bold lip. Basic, but effective.
Favorite Clothing Item? - Jaclyn
I've never liked plaid before, but I'm warming up to it real quick.
Haunted house, corn maze or hay ride?
I love 'em all, but I especially love haunted corn mazes. There's nothing like being out in the elements, with sweat dripping down your brow and your heart pounding out of your chest while a chainsaw-wielding psychopath attempts to make your face his next mask.
Favorite Halloween movie?
Hallowen Town. DUH! Here's the thing, for me scary movies scare the sh*t out of me, even if they're stupid. If I watch a horror flick in a huge group of people with all the lights on, I'm gonna have bad dreams for at least three weeks. And non-stop nightmares from Halloween until Thanksgiving is not cute. I've always liked that movie in particular because I like to think I genuinely appreciate Halloween the way a child would. For me it's about the costumes that are creative and scary (not slutty), the decorations, the ambiance and just getting into character. You can dress like a hoe, get eff'd up and go home with any kinda rando literally any other night of the year, the only difference is the bunny ears. I personally would rather concentrate my efforts on treats, and not on being a trick. But to each their own.
Do You Have a Halloween Costume in Mind?
Something bloody. I'm thinking Roller Derby complete with a black eye and a severely broken nose. That's not set in stone. At this point I'm very open to suggestion which you can leave in the comments.
Past Favorite Halloween Costume? - Jaclyn
I used to LOVE watching Top Gear (British Top Gear, not American Top Gear). If you know what that show is about, you know who the Stig is. For Halloween 2011, not only did I dress up as the Tamed Racing Driver himself (albeit a much shorter and tubbier version), I won a costume contest! That was by far my favorite costume EVER! My second favorite came the next year when I dressed up as a piece of sushi. I wore a white sundress with an orange pillowcase, which I dressed to look like sashimi, and tied a black scarf around myself for the seaweed. I won another contest. I also reused the same costume for a Hunger Games premier in which I went as a District Four Tribute. You know, because that's the Fishing district.
See, this is why I love Halloween! There's no other time during the year where you can express your creativity quite like this. Unless you have a cool job or you're into Cosplay. Neither of which apply to me.
Fave Halloween Candy?
Go-Diva chocolates. Get it? See what I did there? Seriously though, I like Hawaiian chocolate covered macadamia nuts.
Favorite Thing About Fall?
The fresh crisp air and carefree strolls in a leave-changing park. Fall also means all the kids are back in school and those hooligans making all kinds of trouble on their rolling machines (aka skateboards) will be off the streets! #getoffmylawn!
