Hello and Welcome to Saving Face Beauty!
I picked up this Chaotic Mascara from Maybellibe because I was in the mood to try something new and the brush appealed to me. The shape and placement the bristles reminds me of L'Oreal's Miss Manga (which is another favorite). Chaotic performs similarly except the formula of the product is wetter and, for me, requires multiple coats (about three) to achieve a satisfactory lash look. The Miss Manga mascara from L'Oreal has a drier formula which, I think, makes the mascara more buildable and therefore requires fewer coats and less effort to achieve the same level of satisfaction with your lash look. The only problem is I need to replace Miss Manga more frequently. If that makes sense. I've used Chaotic on its own with good results, but, as usual, I love pairing this with the Essence I Heart Extreme Mascara (which I repurchased) because she's just my jam.
I start with I Heart Extreme for volume and separation. I then follow up with two coats of Chaotic for more volume, and another coat of I Heart Extreme for more separation. Spider lashes are not acceptable.
The awkward hook on the end of Chaotic's brush is is actually very useful to get into the inner and outer corners of the eye area, and is great if you're looking for a precise application without a tapered tip (like Miss Manga) that tends to harbor excess product, or goop.
I only have two gripes. The bristles are a little on the long side, which makes getting mascara on the lid during application real easy. The black paint on the packaging becomes sticky when it starts to rub off, which, as you can imagine, is super awk.
Long story short, I like this mascara. I'll continue to repurchase it and might even repurchase. As always, the Essence I Heart Extreme mascara is my ride or die, but thank goodness she plays well with others.
In other news:
It's raining again. Oh Seattle, you never cease to get me wet.
